SHERIFF'S RACE RUNNING ILLEGAL CAMPAIGNS

OOPS! IN CAMERON COUNTY

Those seeking the office of Cameron County Sheriff have begun posting up billboards, bumper stickers, and yard signs, SO wheres the ILLEGAL ACTIVITY THERE YOU ASK, well its in the LOGO being used on the political printed materials aforementioned. Apparently these Candidates were either ill advised or it was a detailed overlooked. One may not use the State Seal of Texas to publicly endorse oneself for a political office they do not hold. Which means the badge symbol can't be used in the political print due to the state seal on it. NOW was this some type of malicious intent by these candidates, probably NOT. It was a mere oversight on the printers and candidates' part.

Heres My ADVICE TO THE NOVICE AND INCUMBANTS: Grab yourself the STATES HANDBOOK on CAMPAIGN REGULATIONS in TEXAS, it will not only come in handy, but It will show the public that your just that much more qualified to seek such a position. If you take that initiative or not doesn't necessarily make you a shoe in to the position, but will eliminate the chances of public humiliation. Or hire someone who knows the rules in campaining.

Good Luck to those Candidates Seeking The CAMERON COUNTY SHERIFFS Office.

You mean Lupe "Selling Fundraiser Tickets year-round" Trevino actually has an opponent. This Sheriff has all his employees shaking people down how can someone even afford to run against this guy?

It is always nice to see some competition in political races, it keeps incumbants from becoming complacent. There is usually someone that thinks that they can do a better job or that needs to move of the later and often someone that feels they should fund a candidate for one or more of those reasons. The deputies I have spoken to (quite a few) feel that the sheriff has done a good if not great job, so it is not suprising that they support him. There is no county-wide race that is not expensive (if not incredibly expensive).

As far as Sheriff Trevino goes, We've heard from various people employees as well as residents of the county that he in fact is doing an amazing job. The Man is truly at every scene and in uniform at that. We here at the Political Ring do see that our current Hidalgo County Sheriff is dedicated as in being physically there at various scenes regardless of what crime scene it is. We here at the Political Ring have not heard of anyone seeking to oppose Mr.Trevino's Re-election bid. But I will agree with dac, these races are indeed incredibly expensive. We too have heard from plenty of the Sheriff's staff and most agree that morale is good around the workplace. Good Job Sheriff Trevino!
