PRIVATE FUNCTION FILLED WITH FACTS or CHISME?

A few of us were out and about at a get together and well some talk was going around about who's running for what and who's not seeking to run. NOW, which brings me to a few rumors We heard and would like for anyone to either confirm or deny, because here at The Political Ring, we're not about to start claiming the sky if falling when in reality it's just drizzling outside. We'd hate to start printing B.S., we'd rather the other blogs do that instead. Here were the rumors:

1. Gene Espinoza was going to seek the position of County Commissioner rather than Edinburg City Councilman. Now, again I'm in the dark about this one, I haven't asked anyone, I haven't even asked Mr.Espinoza myself, but I'm just printing what was said at the function. We aren't here to disrespect Mr.Espinoza, because we have printed in the past Mr.Espinoza seeking re-election against a new opponent. So is the NEW RUMOR FACT or CHISME?

2. County Commissioner of PCT 4 Oscar Garza was not going to seek re-election. FACT or CHISME?

3. State Rep. Mr.Aaron Pena wasn't going to seek re-election. FACT or CHISME?

4. The New District Judge Position newly created is having Candidate Israel Ramon pitted against former Judge Leticia Hinojosa. FACT or CHISME?

AGAIN, NO DISRESPECT TO ANY OF THE AFOREMENTIONED CANDIDATES, IT'S JUST PEOPLE WERE DROPPING NAMES LEFT AND RIGHT, SO WE HERE AT THE POLITICAL RING WOULD JUST LIKE TO KNOW HOW MUCH OF ALL THAT TALK IS FACT.

Warning: We do not endorse or bash any candidate, we do not claim to know everything, and we advocate for the general public.

Rep. Aaron Pena is seeking re-election. I heard him speak at a chamber meeting in McAllen where legislators went over their successes in Austin. The City of Edinburg has seen a rough bunch in their politics lately. I have heard this same rumor but those of us who support Aaron know where it is coming from. I hope this helps.

Peña: ‘I feel like my work here is done’

AUSTIN — State Rep. Aaron Peña, D-Edinburg, strongly suggested in an interview Friday evening that he might not run again for the Legislature now that his six-year quest to have a drug treatment center built in the Rio Grande Valley is coming to a close.

The final version of the state budget presented Friday includes $3 million to build a treatment center in Edinburg. He and other Valley lawmakers have pushed for the facility.

Peña’s 16-year-old son died May 18, 2001, of a drug overdose at a party. Peña was elected to the House in 2002 after promising in his campaign to improve access to substance-abuse treatment.

“When I first ran, my commitment was to build a drug treatment center, and now that it’s done, I feel like my work is done here,” Peña said.

Peña, 47, said he did not know when he would make a final decision whether to run for another two-year term. His current term ends in January 2009.

“It’s like you run a race and you’ve finished,” he said. “I never expected to finish this quickly. I don’t need to run again. I’m going to go home and reflect and enjoy my time with family and decide whether I want to do this again.”

The $3 million set aside in the budget is dedicated to building a treatment facility to serve people who don’t have insurance. Peña said he plans to continue to work to make the treatment center top-quality, especially because the Texas border with Mexico is at the front line of the flow of drugs into the United States.

He learned from budget-writers on May 18 — the anniversary of his son’s death — that the money would be including in the state’s spending plan, he said.

Never understood why people like to gather around a BBQ pit and guess what elected officials are planning in the future. I tell people don't come to me with rumors if you're not going to give me a name on who is starting them. My answer to that is pick up the phone and ask the person in question. By the way I am running for re-election. County 2009? You want to impress your friends at your next function, when the chisme starts stop them and say "tell you what lets call him".

Gene you have done a good job. It sucks that Edinburg has these low lifes that suck taxpayers monies out in order to line their pockets. We all know who they are. Just look at Pharr and look at the coruption coming out of there. We gave them our trash. Let's not let it come back.

Mr.Espinoza,
As always, thank you for your response. Lets see if I'm correct or please correct me if I'm wrong. So you are seeking Re-Election to the Edinburg City Council, so then whats the COUNTY 2009? Again just a little confused here.

Why don't you talk about how Aaron Pena was on the verge of not seeking re election? After all the turmoil his boss did in the House. It's right there plain as day. Again, your getting all your info from E-News then trying to say you heard it somewhere else. Come on I thought you can be much more orginal than that.

E-News is bullshit and spin put out by spineless cowards. People like Eddie Saenz, David Diaz and Rene Ramirez doing a number on each of us.

6:01,
I tried disecting your comments about Mr. Pena and how something was on the verge and how things were plain as day. But I have to admit sound rather either misleading or profoundly confusing. First off, I am not around someone like Mr.Pena to see what, how, where, or who he speaks with and about what he intends to do or say. Now did I know his intentions about seeking re-election? NO
Did I know about his boss or what there intentions or actions are? NO
Words like TURMOIL, PLAIN AS DAY, and ON THE VERGE are just synonyms used to illustrate what? What do you know? Is there something you know that most of us don't? Do you employ CIA, NSA, or FBI gadgetry that allows you to come across such intel. Because here at the POLITICAL RING, we have no such luck, we simply ask when we don't know, we respect others' privacy, and most of all we respect the political realm of campaining. So in short, NO we don't get our info from enews nor any other blog. We are among everyday folk who like everyone else talks about whats going on in our community. Some are jokes, lies, brags, stories, hunting tales, comadre novelas, bedroom soap operas etc. we are all guilty of such things. Some people talk freely about political issues to some degree, but when you add friends, bbq, and some alcohol, some talks may become exagerated. Although some drunk talking is sometime the truth, who knows. Bloggers will come on here disguised as anonymous and run as much foul language and accusations as possible, but in the end what really matters is whats really going on in the real world. With that being said, between now and the Elections, have as much bbq, pachangangiando, talks, jokes, etc as you can and we'll see the outcomes of the political races when its all over with. Until then, be safe and God Bless.

Mr. Ring Announcer it looks as though the rep. answered your question with a comment on his blog:

"The Rep. said...
They are false. Politics is a curious business, with great amusement I have watched the spin and smear of these few ... these unhappy few. I am running for re-election. That should bring clarity. I'll try to enter a post on this by tomorrow if I can pull myself away from my Labor Day honey-dos. Hope to see you on the trail!

Monday, September 03, 2007 2:19:00 PM"

There is not a whole lot of truth coming out of the enews people. It was good you cleared it up.

"When I first ran, my commitment was to build a drug-treatment center, and now that it’s done, I feel like my work is done here," Pena said. Pena, 47, said he did not know when he would decide definitively whether to run for another two-year term. His term ends in January 2009.

"I’m going to go home and reflect and enjoy my time with family and decide whether I want to do this again."

The rep. reflected and made a decision. Now he has told you that fact. Why is there a question saenz-news? To gain advantage so that a challenge can be made. Fat chance.

REGARDLESS of what has been PRINTED or MANIPULATED in any article or blog, Mr.Aaron Pena has stated that he is seeking RE-ELECTION, END OF THAT QUESTION.

Again, Our thanks to our State Rep. Pena, for clarifying that issue with us here at the POLITICAL RING.

From this Day on, anything else would be pure distortion of what has been stated as fact.

We have Stated that Mr. Eddie Saenz seeks to oppose the Incumbant Mr.Aaron Pena, it should be an interesting race.

Good Luck to both candidates Mr.Pena and Mr.Saenz!
