Saenz donated money to a Republican under FBI investigation willing to build a wall on the border. That is just the tip of the problem. Aaron Gonzalez who the FBI nabbed and was found guilty was also his campaign manager in Edcouch and Elsa. Gonzalez' crew now covers Saenz in his campaign. They are under present day investigation today. Get ready for big time embarassmnt if he gets elected.

Many of us are following this campaign in Austin. What has made this race noticable are the strong negative attack ads many of us are receiving from the Saenz camp already. I just received an attack ad over the internet. It is pure Fero, dirty and deceiving. Pena if you read this, we got your back.

There are rumors circulating about the race for The Distric 40 State Rep Post. A candidate is rumored to be seeking the AID of a professional Democratic Strategist by the name of Kelly Fero. How much of this is true has yet to be determined. We here at the Political Ring aren't declaring this to be true and we are looking into how true this may be. I have read up on Kelly Fero and this person is A HIGHLY QUALIFIED POLITICAL STRATEGIST to say the least and I'm sure this type of service isn't cheap I might add. Which brings me to one CONCLUSION, why on Earth would some Valley Candidate seek the ADVICE of A POLITICAL STRATEGIST when all you need to do is PAY ATTENTION TO THE VERY PEOPLE YOU WANT TO REPRESENT. Seeking the STRATEGIC ASSISTANCE of A POLITICAL PROFESSIONAL may prove to be GENIUS in THE POLITICAL WORLD, but we're just everyday working class people who want someone we can depend on, here us out, and most important of all converse with us about our issues and maybe have some cofee with some of our families when in town. Its called GRASSROOTS POLITICS and if you're from here, then you have to know who we are, what we're like, and most important of all our unique Borderland Culture. BUT if you're asking for assistance from a PROFESSIONAL in THE POLITICAL FIELD well then what does that say about your understanding of us the very people you live among? We the people are here in the valley are a simple bunch:

We work to make ends meet.

We socialize with friends and family.

We do for our families.

And we live among two countries on a daily basis bilingually.

Thats who WE ARE. If this candidate has any other questions or confusions about us, well then walk the streets and knock on some doors and you'll realize no political doctors needed here sir.

NOW THE POLITICAL ASPECT OF RUNNING A CAMPAIGN:
1. You need PEOPLE.
2. You need PLENTY OF MONEY.
3. And a bit of charm and stamina goes a long way.
4. Be genuine and the rest of the mumbo jumbo stats, diagrams, studies, polls, and political jargon are just a big waste of resources. And if you're liked by those who run things (a selected few) and those who take time from there life to vote, well then you WIN on election day.

Karl Rove delivered BUSH? Yeah right! BUSH TOLD THE MAJORITY WHAT THEY WANTED TO HEAR and THE MAJORITY CHRISTIAN WHITES ATE IT UP. PLUS BUSH WAS A MORE LIKEABLE FLAWED GUY THAN KERRY OR GORE and MOST PEOPLE REALIZED THAT THEY COULD IDENTIFY WITH A FLAWED LESS THAN PERFECT GUY AS OPPOSED TO GORE, although there is some debate about the BUSH v GORE race. THAT IS WHY SO MANY PEOPLE LOVE SHOWS LIKE JERRY SPRINGER, BECAUSE WE LOVE TO WITNESS PEOPLE MORE FLAWED THAN WE ARE.

Political Strategists are a reality, and they know the tricks of the trade. I think the effects of the Swift Boat Campaign and Karl Rove's backroom politics are prime examples. Not that they are all bad as they can focus on the issues that study shows the public wants action on, but the examples we hear about are about strategies of attack. The issue of Craddick is a good example. I deplore the man and the devisiveness he has played in Texas Politics and Partisian gamesmanship, but it would be him or another Republican in that seat, not a Democrat regardless.

I would like to hear the real issues. I have seen the good Mr. Pena has done and the very noble reasons why he chose to run for office. I would like to know more as to what the incumbant can offer if he feels he can do a better job.

dac,
Political Strategists are AWESOME, and these are professionals that help steer any candidate to political success when at all possible. But I just feel that in the case of The District 40 area, there isn't that much room for POLITICAL MANEUVARING considering like you said either its Craddick or any other Republican not a DEMOCRAT. Im not impressed with the swift boat adds, karl rove, or political doctors who MANIPULATE voters as do ATTORNEYS with the Legal System.
I mean seriously, what did you think of OJ with the murders? Did it help his image that he was declared INNOCENT due to a dream team of attorneys? NO. How about MICHAEL JACKSON, do you find him INNOCENT due to some poor judgement of a jury? NO. What about OMAR GUERRERO, Im sure he was INNOCENT TOO RIGHT? SURE AS IF IM GONNA BELIEVE THAT ONE. Well, these are all examples of what MANIPULATIVE ACTIONS BY PROFESSIONAL LEGAL REPRESENTATION can do for even those who appear to be GUILTY.
WELL the same is said to be TRUE about these Karl Rove TACTICS. NOW are Political doctors needed? YES, By the same people that find themselves in need of some direction politicaly. That only suggests that if your opponent is not seeking such advice and has had some success politically, that you the one actually seeking the professional help are at a disadvantage with your target audience (the voters).

HERES MY ADVICE TO ANY CANDIDATE SEEKING OFFICE:

WORK YOUR TAIL OFF FOR THE POSITION! BLOCK WALKS, GRASSROOTS, SHAKING HANDS WITH EVERYONE!, HAVE A PLATFORM, HAVE AN AGENDA, AND ALWAYS STICK TO THE ISSUES OF THE PEOPLE'S NEEDS.
QUIT FINGER POINTING, ROLL UP YOUR SLEEVES AND GET READY TO WORK YOUR TAIL OFF FOR THE PEOPLE. IF YOU CAN'T DO THAT ON YOUR OWN, THEN SEEK EMPLOYMENT ELSEWHERE. WE THE PEOPLE DEMAND A CANDIDATE WITH A DISCIPLINED DEMEANOR, STRONG BACK, THICK SKIN, GOOD HEAD ON THERE SHOULDERS, FAMILY VALUES, AND ABOVE ALL A GOOD NEIGHBOR TO ALL OF US.

REPRESENTING YOUR CONSTITUENTS SHOULDN'T BE THE JOB OF PAID PROFESSIONALS AND IF YOU CANT MANAGE THAT, THEN YOU HAVE NO BUSINESS REPRESENTING THE PEOPLE IN YOUR COMMUNITY.

What would probably make this race in HD 40 even more interested is a third candidate. It'll force a runoff for sure because the votes would be split three ways. I don't think Rep. Pena could win with a third candidate, a strong, local, head on straight candidate that isn't sleazy like Saenz, but is willing to stick to his democratic ties without selling out to the Republicans like Pena. Think about it...

By the way, POLITICAL BOUTS are always using words associated with CONTACT Sports such as:FIGHT
MATCH
RING
BLOODY ROUNDS
BASHING
PUNCH or PUNCHING

But WARS usually have Politicians resort to more Euphamism to blanket the true meanings such as:

Euphamism/what it really means:

Insurgants/The Enemy

Reach an Objective/ Over power the enemy.

Security Purposes/Everyone is a suspect.

Smart Weapons/ A bomb that doesn't leave any witnesses alive when it explodes, thats why they're equiped with cameras.

containing insurgants/killing everyone in sight thought to be an enemy.

But leave it to political pundits, docs, and bloggers to use more GORE in describing Campaining literature as opposed to WARS where GORE is labeled otherwise. GO FIGURE! Anyone who writes can do so in any manner they please, just as long as the message is there in their words.

Strange Bedfellows,
Interesting perspective you got there, but are we insinuating here that District 40 is in need of just another Candidate to oppose Saenz and Pena for the GOOD of the PEOPLE or is that candidate needed JUST to offset the FINAL COUNT?

I think what is happening here in the District 40 Race is that Candidates and there following are getting to caught up in LABELS.

TO BE OR NOT TO BE?
Republican is the question that confuses many here in the Valley. We live in a WINNER TAKE ALL STATE and COUNTRY for that Matter. Why don't SOME PEOPLE JUST UNDERSTAND OUR POLITICAL FRAME WORK HERE IN TEXAS?
You can have all the Democrats you want here in the Valley, but in the End Texas is Pre-dominantly Republican and has been for quite some time which means our STATE is PRO REPUBLICAN AND WILL CAST THE ELECTORAL VOTES FOR WHATEVER REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE IN THE PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION REGARDLESS OF THE LITTLE OL VALLEY AND THEIR DIE HARD DEMOCRATS. I understand the devotion many here in the Valley have for the Democrat Party, but we have to site facts when at all possible. NOW, if the candidate I choose for the district 40 is resistant to the powers that be in Our State Capitol and refuses to "GET WITH THE PROGRAM" among the other REPS, then ask yourself what is the true definition of IGNORANCE: here let me give you a clue as to what it means to me:
REPEATING THE SAME ACTIONS AND EXPECTING DIFFERENT RESULTS.

Finding common ground is always the rule of thumb in Politics. And if the majority is wearing yellow on wear yellow day, guess what you might wanna have at least a yellow ribbon on your jacket's lapel just to show your COMMON GROUND with those in charge so that you may one day IMPLEMENT BROWN DAY.

I'm not the same anonymous as 1:00. But, I think he means that Saenz's people are going to take him for a ride. He might win, or might not. The campaign workers cash in no matter what. The best customers have a lot of money and pay you to tell them where to spend it. Stealing is a strong word.

Last election between Pena and Saenz, Sanez was the butt of jokes. His nickname in the Delta area was Mr. $5,000 because it was well known that he would pay a high price for an officials endorsement.

This year they are calling him Mr. $7,000 because that is his going rate for an endorsement in that area of the county. In others it is much higher. I think what he means is that people are taking him for a ride. Few people have a lot of respect for Saenz. It's tough to feel sorry for him.

I am a little lost on the argument comparing attorneys and political consultants. I guess what you mean is that some attorneys can steer a verdict of the 12 people that make the ultimate decision of guilt or innocence or that those that can afford a winning defense can buy justice or votes. Maybe that's true, the wealthy have always had access to better. Better health care, better representation, better accountants and better spin doctors ...

Many say that had they been on any of those juries they would have reacted differently, but most people try to avoid jury duty at any cost possible and most don't vote.

Who do you want to blame?

4:29 AM
Blogger strange-bedfellows said...

I don't doubt that Pena has done well for his district, and I don't doubt it that Saenz would give it one hell of a try. What I do doubt is both candidates principles.

A third candidate would provide a fresh approach to the campaign - only if this candidate is someone who won't get corrupted by the Craddick machine and the local politiqueras. Yeah, I know... pipe dream...

9:11 AM
Blogger THE POLITICAL RING said...

Strange Bedfellos,
Pipe Dream? Sure.
Principles for a Candidate? Pretty hard to come by in the Political Realm and heres why:

Politicians have sharp tongues, plenty of money, and people they have to either appeal to or please. That being said, a Politician by nature MUST have FLEXIBLE MORALS OR PRINCIPLES, WHATEVER YOU WANNA CALL IT. Becuase lets dig into what exactly these People VOTE on, I mean c'mon when budget time comes around they are either gonna CUT FUNDS to some ELDERLY, YOUTH, WORKING CLASS, HIKE TAXES, or SEND PEOPLE TO THERE DEATHS (IRAQ!) DEATHS, I REPEAT DEATHS,,,You gotta be HUMAN for at least 5 minutes and think about Sending your own across the world to ACHIEVE WHAT? PEACE? NO AVERAGE AMERICAN CARES WHAT MIDDLE EASTERN PEOPLE ARE DOING ON A DAILY BASIS, SHOOT WE HAVE HOMELESS HERE IN OUR STREETS PEOPLE CAN CARE LESS ABOUT. The Average American is working, going to school or busy come 8am -5pm idealy, so really who cares about ISSUES in the middle east when jr needs diapers, milk, and the family needs food. Bills need to get paid or does the vehicle have enough gas to make it to work and dropping off the children at school. Politicians today can't afford to have principles, instead there Political Party dictates to them as to how to vote, be, live, and believe. And if that don't work Religeon takes its place.

AGAIN I will repeat what I've been saying for quite sometime: REPUBLICAN AND DEMOCRAT are the same people, they dine together at the Capitol, they work together, the vote together, they attend the same Country clubs, they are Work Associates, well if they work with eachother on a daily basis they're bound to grow on each other and when time comes for an issue to be addressed they compare notes. Both Candidates have more in common than you and I.

They're both Rich and predominantly White, National and State House and Senate as well GOV and LT GOV, PRES., VP.

They are privlidged individuals that earn more than you or me just speaking publicly at some university for about an hour than we do in a year. I KNOW SAD HUH?

They have multiple homes in multiple regions (ie districts they reside in personally and those they reside in politically)

LUXURY, WEALTH and A PRIVILEDGED LIFESTYLE helps these individuals relate to one another and The PRESIDENCY is ANOTHER CLUB MADE UP OF WHITE ARISTROCRACY. THE ELITES RULE or THEY ALLOW OTHERS JUST LIKE THEM TO RULE over US.

So with just the Aforementioned paragraph, I would like to make clear that no matter what label or name you put on a horse at the tracks or the bets you've made on such an animal, in the end that horse is of the same type as all the others: he's no pony, colt, or mustang, he's simply a thoroughbred trained to RUN and a great deal of money was invested in these animals to run the best race they can regardless of what number or name you slap on its body.

My ADVICE:
"IF you're GOOD and enter politics the BAD will always break you."

There is no principles, morals, or ethics in a society that excludes HUMAN BEINGS
NEED I GO INTO DETAILS?
AMERICAN WHITE ANGLO SAXON PROTESTANTS HAVE AT ONE POINT BEEN AGAINST JUST ABOUT EVERYONE:

The English

American Indians(just recently gave them back some land)making Casinos big business among the tribes.

The French

The Germans

Irish in the Beginning

Italians were next WOPS which just means(without papers)

Blacks

Communists

Jews

All Asians (especially after Pearl Harbor) not only Japanese, all Asians.

Canadians (but can enter illegally any time, no questions answered)

ALL Latinos

Gays

Lesbians

Most Muslim Countries
and well just about anyone not conforming to there ideology, hence the words they use to describe illegal Imigrants (ALIENS)

Superman was an Illegal Alien, He had no papers when he crash landed here. I see he's was welcomed.

WASPS is the LABEL that Identifies the TRUE POWERS in D.C. and OUR STATE CAPITOL, so why are people sweating about labeling a candidate REPUBLICAN or DEMOCRAT when 75% of the time the Candidate will probably be a WASP or pretty damn close to it. Or Else you may not enter the ELITE STATUS of POWER.

dac,
Not blaming anyone in particular, it's just that If someone is seeking to REPRESENT anyone. Shouldn't that CANDIDATE prove to be CAPABLE of REPRESENTING? Either it be:

Agent
Attorney
Representative
etc.
An Agent needs to know his/her Talent they represent.

An attorney needs to know his client and the case before representing them.

And A Representative should know the population they choose to REPRESENT.

And how is that made possible, heres a few answer choices:

a) Pay some Professional to get to know the Population Demographics, voting styles of district, and Registered Voters logs.

b)Pay people to drag all the people they know to the polls on early voting and election day.

c)Get to know your population FIRST HAND by meeting with them, converse with them, and learn about your community yourself.

NOW LET ME TELL YOU HOW MOST CANDIDATES WOULD OF ANSWERED:

1. Homegrown candidates with grassroots in there community would have chosen answer C, building relations with those in the community has been a lifelong process.

2. Candidates new to the area would of chosen answer A, because they have no clue as to WHO or WHAT type of COMMUNITY they are CAMPAIGNING TO REPRESENT, JUST AS LONG AS THEY WIN.

3. Candidates with enormous War Chests of Political Capital (Chingos of Money)would have chosen answers A, B, respectively because they have the means to do so. NOW does that make this type of candidate the best Choice? NO. A candidate must be willing to apply some elbow grease in order to get the job done first and foremost.

Heres My Take on this:

"Come get to know me, before I invest my vote on you. I'm Hispanic, Educated and Above all can think on my own and dont need some paid political doctor to dictate to me your latest colorful schematic adulterated poll, or please dont hand me a Taco and expect a vote in return, or dont offer me a beer and hope I find your entertainment amusing that just seriously stupidifies the campaign process, WE need ISSUES RESOLVED, tell me, show me, and make me understand that you can try to resolve ISSUES regarding our COMMUNITY where we live, we work and where our kids play and go to school"

Hey Strange Bedfellow, on what do you base your opinion that Rep. Pena doesn't have principles? I live in Pharr and I have seen first hand Saenz getting millions in contract with the city. We all know how things work in this city. However, I have always looked at Rep Pena with respect. Do tell.

"Politician by nature MUST have FLEXIBLE MORALS OR PRINCIPLES, WHATEVER YOU WANNA CALL IT."

The key word here is that politicians "must" have...Not all of them are built this way. Pena is one of the few that has shown he uses strong morals to represent his district.

12:13 PM
Blogger THE POLITICAL RING said...

12:13,

"MUST have FLEXIBLE MORALS" is used to expain how ALL politicians have TO VOTE and WHEN DOING SO, Some are Benefiting while others aren't. Thats a FACT. Heres an example of a law that was voted on by the Powers that be:

Roe v Wade
Pro-life or Pro Choice

either way you vote on something like that, your morals have to be flexible.

Predominantly Democrats vote Pro-Choice while Republicans vote Pro-Life. WHO'S RIGHT? Does your choice on this issue reflect your political party? I think some people are basing MORALS on a more personal level when judging the candidate they know best. But I'm not trying to label a candidate, here Im labeling Politicians in general. An Attorney HAS TO BE FLEXIBLE with MORALS: If they are going to defend a murderer or child rapist, they HAVE TO BE FLEXIBLE WITH THE WHOLE MORAL ISSUE. Now is PENA or SAENZ a bad person due to MORALS or PRINCIPLES? NO, and thats not what I mean, here, But IN GENERAL POLITICIANS HAVE TO AND MUST BE FLEXIBLE WHEN IT COMES TO MORALS AND PRINCIPLES, whatever word works for you.

POLITICS is the art of Decieving to some degree. Greeks invented such art. Theres a science to it, but theres no right or wrong. Its just what you're willing to tolerate. If you're a Republican and feel every girl should be pro-life then thats your stance, but if your Democrat and feel every girl should have the right to choose, then thats your stance. NO RIGHT OR WRONG until you have to PASS A LAW on the ISSUE Right? So Roe v. Wade has some winners and some victims. You cant win em all. Flexibility helps politicians survive the political climate at the capitol. Pena was able to side with republicans on occassion to help implement his idea and good for him and our community. Pena demonstrated great preseverance in achieving something he felt his community needed and that showed a clear flexibility in principle as well as morals.

3:19 PM
Blogger DAC said...

Ring Master, I think it is just the terminology that is bothering some of the posters, "flexible morals" implies a lack of morals. You are talking more in the realm of compromise. Politics like Economics is often a matter of balancing wants and needs with limited resources. Sometimes you have to give up something that you would otherwise choose to afford the things that you must have otherwise you end up in a worse posititon. In politics, votes are traded for position and influence. Compromise can be called capitulation by some, and by others statesmanship. I guess the key here is was there a net gain or a net loss by the compromise.

At least the rep. did something about improving childrens insurance for poor children. I think i have heard enough. REVENGE, because the guy beat you. We got to do better than this.
