Sorry folks but this is exactly what is starting to happen, life is imitating art. We the citizens are suppose to sit back and let some candidate with money declare that the Cop who did his job in eliminating a possible DWI THREAT to other drivers off the road was indeed wrong? Cmon! we here at The Political Ring don't specialize in BASHING Candidates, but when you refuse to admit doing wrong like us ordinary folk, and on top of that accuse some officer of the law doing his job of being wrong, Well that just about does it for us. That officer in Mission was just doing the job he once swore to do and now we have Ol Eddie getting the Mayor's son in his corner, political favors, and some nice public letter in the monitor equaling a pretty penny I'm sure. But in the end, why all the hoopla and so defensive against an employee doing his job. That is a bit bullish on Eddie's part to go bulleying a civil service employee in court. Chances are the charges will get dismissed after much arm twisting on the officer by well who do you all think. I'm sure the list is long, but distinguished. And is that justice? NO, hence the picture of Ol Paulie Walnuts from the Sopranos, "Hey forget about it T." "It's all taken care of T." Were some of Paulie's lines in the hit series, and well those type of lines probably fit this situation. A dapper dressed business like attired man with connections and money to influence either for good or bad depends on who you ask. This type of cover up deserves such poster figure. I thought Mr.Saenz would of owned up to the incident, but the letter in the monitor failed to do so. I expected a class act in asking the public for forgiveness, but Mr. Saenz has proven to deny such incident even occurred and that it wasn't his fault and that is just not acceptable. Wrong words in the letter, Wrong actions in accusing the officer in doing wrong, and wrong actions in covering it up. Whats next sir? What do you want to cover up next? Which hourly employee do you wanna sick your high priced lawyer on? Who do you wanna discredit next? What situation will you use your political connections to get out of next? Fighting an officer of the law in court will probably gain you some confort in stroking your ego, but the public isn't as jaded as you might think sir. Wrong Wrong Wrong, I expected better in a candidate and I was wrong. This is not a personal attack, but we here at The Political Ring will not sit here and watch this type of mob mentallity bulleying the everyday man working to make ends meet. That officer was doing his job and now we are defending him and his actions.

Man the picture with the article was classic. Anyway...since this matter has become the supreme issue in the race (the handling not the underlying arrest) you know me, I can't help but chime in. Look, I don't consider myself unbaised in this race, as it would have taken something special to motivate me to vote against he incumbant, Craddickpolusa is not enough. But, the only sign made by Saenz (excluding of course the stuff that comes out of E-News which often Spin for the sake of Spin) that the officer has done anything wrong, is the vague implication by Omar's Johnny Cocharan that Mr. Saenz's politics played a role in the initial arrest. I can't wait for the hearing where they try and throw out the policeman's report and testimony. When will YouTube get the dash cam.
Considering the sheer number and people invited (I bet that Mr. Saenz was not the only one to have served on that many boards and commissions that was invited), I guess if they wanted the Mission PD could have had the breathlyzer at the door and rounded up a view suspects.
So in a few months we find out if the DA will prosecute and what Court will get the call. I guess it is more entertaining to have a circus in town rather than an election. Though the story is only big in the world of blog as the news is scant. Salinas will need a good catch phrase for this one..."if it doesn't fit..."or "Does she look like a rape victim..." We tried our best to refrain from choosing sides in this race and will keep doing so in the future. But it's just VERY BULLISH for a person with that type of economic resources to go bulleying a city employee and the system we all have to live by. Why should anyone be above the law? It isn't right and that is why we have chosen to illustrate such celebrity Saenz parody figure on our blog. Don't they resemble eachother not only in looks, but bullish attitude? Well as the mob would say, "hey forget about it." This campaign should concentrate on apologizing to the public rather than trying to defy the odds of having the charges dropped. I mean hey, Mission PD let the man go, then on top of that gave him a PR bond to boot and still Saenz decides to publicly through means of enews discredit the arresting officer and Mission PD for doing things WRONG. WOW! You can't make this kinda behavior stuff up can you? Mob like mentallity to think that one can cover this sort of thing up and be bold enough to publicly try to discredit the entire Police Force of Mission. Pretty Bullish Act if you ask me.

These are some key questions we need to know when deciding if a DWI here in the VALLEY is in FACT a REAL DWI. Because in Dallas, Houston, or San Antonio a DWI has a different meaning, so lets not get it confused to a VALLEY DWI. Now we should not speculate that this constable is in deed guilty because:
a. he didn't blow like mr. saenz.
b. it probably wasnt his fault getting caught like mr. saenz.
c. he'll probably blame the arresting officer.
d. plead "NOLO PUEDO AFFORD ECONOMICALLY LIKE RICH POLITICAL CANDIDATES"

DWIs aren't that uncommon in the Austin Area, Our Late Governor Ann Richards herself was an alcoholic. With that being said, Our Texas Capitol at one point was rampant with alcoholics running things, but its not so much what impact this DWI has on Mr. Saenz's campaigning efforts, its rather COVERING up in the manner that who ever decided to do it that way is what is severely wrong. Accusing a police department or its officers of doing wrong is not the way to go for any political candidate. I am completely disgusted with the political system as of late. The La Joya school board races are now being recalled and look who's behind that. It just seems to me that its always the same ingredients here in the valley for political mayhem. These same politicians are the same ones that juggle the numbered political posts here in the valley amongst themselves. Its no wonder nothing ever gets done around here. Back where Im from, it used to be we would make a retired Army General a school board president, or some retired Medical Dr. a city councilman, but here we have some young cocky political novices being controlled by political factions that bank roll these campagins. But my trips to California, Florida, and New York keep me guessing when our people here will ever catch up to these metropolitan areas. And my guess is, that these people down here in charge aint willing to let go of there power. The fortunate rich serve in office and the poor just attend there free pachanga bar b ques. You give them a taco, a coke and in return you get there undivided attention, loyalty and subserviant assistance. Thats never gonna end, just as long as those with the means control those without.

MONEY MONEY MONEY, if you have enough money, you can serve on any board, council, and get an array of awards as well as posts. Looks like Eddie Saenz may have some company in jail. Hidalgo County sheriff’s deputies arrested one of Eddie's biggest campaign workers - Manuel “Manny” Hernandez. The school board member remained in Hidalgo County Jail after police arrested him for burglary with intent to commit another felony.
Eddie seems to attract lawbreakers just like his former campaign manager, Aaron Gonzalez who the feds busted last year. Birds of a feather do flock together.
How about the other rats at the Edcouch-Elsa school board on the Saenz payroll when are they getting busted?

PR your question is an answer to itself. It is the small areas that are easy to control, the more metropolitan an area becomes, the tougher (and more expensive it is to contol and the more votes it takes to control the area). Until we consolidate into a true metropolitan area we are destined to allow those that control the few areas to fight over the entire region. We are never assisted by the fact that the greater powers in Austin and Washington add fuel to our coals by constantly pitting our city states against one another and districting the areas in such a way to water any illusion of power.
We still run things like a small town, even our county governments pretend we do not have large county issues and budgets.
If you find a retired general or doctor to run in the valley I might be a little shocked (I know it was just an example), but the point is the same, they don't run. Most of the time for their own reasons...look at what they would get to enjoy a public prance through their family, habits, arrests, and rumors. Look how much it costs to run a campaign...I love the grass roots concept too (it is both romantic and falls into our ideals of democracy) but most of the time it is just a pipe dream.
I also agree with you that it was not the DWI (most who drink have driven or do drive when they should not)...(for that matter some people that drive down here drive me to drink). It is the "wait for the facts" and the blame game that make it smell bad.
All this back and forth over who has what in their record is a little silly. Your right, since there is no third candidate, one of the two will be the representative. If motivation is in question, what is the motive for each to run? What is the incentive to pour so much into this campaign. Is the incumbant doing such a horrible job that he needs to be replaced. Are there new ideas that need to be pushed. I guess back to my original post on the matter, what are the issues? Is character all its about? I know it is probably the most tantalizing area, but in the end where does it get the area.
I find it very troubling that Saenz has still not explained how he was let go outside the normal procedures and what he did to instigate the coverup in Mission, Texas after his DWI arrest.

I was once campaigning for a candidate and polling on a college campus, city streets, and just about any public place I could come across people and do you want to know just what was on people's minds when deciding what type of Candidate they wanted in the White House? And what Candidate they were going to choose back in the '80's?
Was it the ISSUES? NO
Was it the ECONOMY? NO
Was it the MARKET? NO
Was it WORLD POLITICAL CONFLICTS?NO
The hard pressing subject on people's minds then was that Our Next Comander in Chief be A Presidential Looking Candidate with a good head of hair. And their choice was Ronald Reagan the Actor. To look PRESIDENTIAL? How does one look the part today? An astounding 65% of the sample population chose this pressing issue as one of the key deciding factors when at the polls during the presidential elections back in the '80s. So its no shock to me how people come across the decision of voting for a certain candidate today.
Funny how everyone on this site and other sites have asked Saenz to come clean about his DWI and this many weeks later still not a word.

The current state reps worked together to bring things to the valley this last session. If you replace one, it means that the newly elected rep will have to start from scratch. New reps typically pass 1 bill, if any. So, all the incumbents would have to do the hitting for the newbie if he or she wants anything done.
If we replace two reps, our chances at getting anything for the valley are small. If we get 3 new reps, just pack it up. It will take years for the valley to get anything from the state.
Any candidate who promises to change the world is giving a bunch of BS. It will take at least a couple of sessions before they are in a position to get anything done.

Been in San Antonio and Dallas these past couple of Weeks just got back last night. Good to be back home! I see not much has changed on the political front. enews is still ranting about there boss and putting down there opponent in every way possible. I see La Joya re doing the school board election. I've started noticing more and more political yard signs dressing up the community. So not much has changed huh? You would think a person would leave outta town for a few weeks and return to something new, instead well its the same ol thing. But hey, the Cowboys extended Romo's contract, now thats some new and good news! Superbowl? I can happen. Go Cowboys. Oh well turning to more serious matters, Saenz-Gate still pending further details I see. The illusive 300 failed to show up at the kick off or maybe they were all taking either a smoke or bathroom break. Just a little humor there people, I'm sure people will start bickering about that comment? Oh well I'm sure Mr.Saenz gots his best people on that issue. But if I may be quite frank about his political signs, ONE WORD: RE-DO! I can already here the pundits blazing now! I would like to attend a political debate between Mr.Pena and Mr.Saenz. As Bruce Buffer would say, "Lets get ready to RUMBLE!"
Let me ask you something PR, what's your take on Saenz' claim that Pena voted against Prop. 15 (cancer research) but is now advocating for it? Do you consider this an about face or the more treacherous poltical two-step?
Pena was an author of the bill, voted for it several times, received praise from Lance Armstrong and has fought for the issue here at home. Saenz claimed to be a leader on the issue but was nowhere today when John Sharp and Aaron where fighting for it in front of the press. I think Pena has done well for this area and Saenz is just reaching.

Voting FOR or AGAINST BILLS tends to be either a KILLER or CHAMPIONED CAUSE. That being said, most politicians will tell you that most Bills carry so much wording, bylaws, mumbo jumbo, crap, excess and sometimes a politician doesnt quite see eye to eye with those who either write it or the wording in the bill. Now its freakin easy to misconstrue words and enews eddie's mouth piece, tends to take the bold face headlines rendition of so called news. Are they right? well somewhat. people like enews are NOTORIOUS for hanging people on the smallest insignificant wording an opponent may blurt out. Lets just say for argument's sake that Pena voted against cancer research, did anyone research this bill in its entirety? Can enews print the entire bill? For the most part, most bills arent even read by congressman. Trust me on that one. Congressman Rangel has repeadetly claimed that popular fact. So enews goes around trying to LYNCH POLITICAL OPPONENTS LOBBYING for there own. Eddie is no better than Aaron, but enews will make Eddie sound like a God, is it true, or is it because enews gets paid to write such campaign crap? I believe the latter being the honest truth. Comercials come on the tube daily raving about the latest "gut be Gone" "miracle hair growth gel" or the "thigh master" BUT DO THESE PRODUCTS REALLY WORK? HELL NO! BUT THAT DOESNT MEAN THE TV PROGRAMMING PAYING FOR THE COMMERCIAL IS GOING TO STOP. IT JUST MEANS THAT SOME SUCKER WILL BUY THAT CRAP OF BULL SOMETIME. well enews continues to digest through every orphis hoping some suckers will soon believe the crap they write.

I just find it confusing that if Pena voted against the cancer bill and now because it is election season he goes out to support it doesn't make much sense. Someone should ask Pena to explain his no vote.

Eddie Saenz hired 9 eighteen wheeler trucks to block the entrance to Aaron Pena's kickoff. They tried to start a fight with the ECHO hotel staff and were finally scared off by the law enforcement officers at the representative's party.
Let's face it, Eddie Saenz is dirty and just like his trash blog E-News they will say and do anything to win. Low life's all of them.

just got back from one of the coffee shops in Pharr and the news is a citizen reported one of the deputy constables from PCT 2 Javier Hinojosa buying beer in his constable unit. is this the guy that just got busted a month ago with a DWI ? Looks like CHATO Alaniz has some questions to answer. I am trying to get the case #.
I don't care for either Pena or Saenz, because I'm 100% sure they don't give a rat's ass about me either, but is very funny how people get all preachy and judgmental when somebody gets arrested for drinking, and tries to cover the incident, hell I would do it too if I could its worth a try, anybody would, we all have done things we are not supossed to, and it amuses the hell out of me when people point fingers like they are little saints, hypocrites that's what we are, yeah including myself, I know I'm not perfect.
Eddie Saenz has a huge character flaw that is repeated over and over again. Why is character important? You and I are not trying to be "leaders". A leader should be someone beyond the ordinary and mundane, they should reflect the better parts ov ourselves, not the worst. Eddie Saenz is the ugly and dirty in all of us. I do not want him as my leader.
What Mr. Saenz needs to do is come out of the enews closet and denounce any afiliation with them. That might improve his image a tad. But being that Mr.Saenz has failed to do such a thing, leaves people thinking that the two are in fact afiliated. And we all know the muddy waters enews embelishes in.
