GANG FACTIONS DECLARING POLITICAL WAR HERE IN EDINBURG?
Something very disturbing is becoming very popular here in Edinburg. Gangs! No I’m not describing those in the streets, schools or committing mischief, I am describing the GANGS of Adults in POLITICAL FACTIONS.
This TOWN is getting torn apart by a very few FACTIONS and for those of you that have no clue as to what I am describing, let me further explain what we here at THE POLITICAL RING are referring to.
For example you the voter are sitting at home minding your business and all of a sudden you either get a phone call from a candidate seeking office, political mail, or have someone knocking on your door seeking support for a certain candidate maybe even handing you a flyer about the candidate and his or her FACTION printed on the paper. Yep, its just that simple now a days, that some candidates get together pitch in a few thousand bucks and have all there functions together, all printed political materials have there names together, and you would think that maybe they can save a couple of bucks with this type of cooperation with one another huh? Sort of like carpooling, but only they not only carpool together to help each other out save gas money, they in fact try to run the competition off the road. Well not too extreme, but in theory that is exactly what takes place.
FACTIONS vs FACTIONS? What is a voter to do, when they may like say one of the candidates from the bunch and decide only to support that one candidate from that bunch and another candidate from the opposing bunch? Well, it seems that is being frowned upon. SUPPORT THEM ALL OR YOUR AGAINST US seems to be the norm here in Edinburg now. That sort of GANG MENTALLITY is not only troublesome but could prove to be confusing for some voters or maybe even all. Though, very few may voice there concerns, we have decided to shed some light on this GROSS EPIDEMIC PLAGUING US THE CITIZENS. Pachangas, bailes, comida, musica and la jente conocida, is all good things to be apart of, but not when you’re alienating some of those you care about or support. Reminds me of that movie GANGS of NEW YORK, The Old vs The New. Is that the future? Is that the best that could come about from our City? Is this Historically Old way of doing things still alive and well in our very own backyard today? I mean seriously, Hidalgo County was notorious for its pachanga politics in the 1800’s when the blue rivaled the reds. The only difference is that the political Anglo Names were replaced by Mexican Names on the ballot, oh and we evolved from a lever to a button touch screen just yesterday.
HOW INSULTING it must feel for the citizens to have to be dictated as to who to choose once political season is upon us. The voter gets picked up, fed, transported to and from the voting polls, and en route the political strategists give the voter a cheat sheet with the names of the political strategists’ employers. And with that in hand the voter is instructed as to how, when, and why to do what was instructed when entering the voting booths. That Movie, Gangs of New York is an interesting political movie that depicts how these sort of tactics were employed then and I must admit is rather disturbing today to witness such accounts.
What can be done you ask? Well as long as we let it happen nothing will be done. Who will control the seats of power in our town? Well those that has the stronger faction. Why do they control in such manner? Because we let them and many don’t care to stand up and dispute such ARROGANCE. Will this process ever change? It hasn’t changed since the 1800s. How many factions exist in Edinburg today? You can probably count the factions in Edinburg on one hand. What do these Factions do when they are in Power? They do how they please and prosper very well. Do they let anyone prosper as well? NO, it is already decided as to which parts of the faction will control what. Jobs, Contracts, Money, and Power is only afforded to members of the Faction and not those poor individuals that invested there vote in such factions. DO THESE FACTIONS REMEMBER THE VOTERS? WELL YES, WHEN IT’S POLITICAL SEASON THEY WILL GIVE YOU FREE FOOD, ENTERTAINMENT, ALCOHOL, AND TRANSPORTATION. But other than that, NO, they will not remember you. Try asking them for a favor or job months after the elections, GOOD LUCK! Why do such things occur? Because it’s easy to manipulate people for a short period of time and well some of the poor citizens feel important and detrimental during this period of elections so they accept any and all attention as well as handouts they are given by these factions.
SAD NEWS TO HEAR and SAD DISPLAY OF PEOPLE BEING HERDED LIKE CATTLE. Let’s have some decency and respect for our citizens and our community. Elderly people do not need to be wielded about like some objects of value during these periods just so that they could be given some bingo prizes. Or some impoverished people be given an amount of money (wink wink) to vote a certain way. Lets vote for the CANDIDATE (single not plural) that best suits us the voter rather than having some FACTION FORCE THERE PARTY DOWN THE THROATS OF EVERY VOTER THEY WISH TO EXPLOIT.
REMEMBER in the MOVIE Gangs of New York, The Old Establishment defeated the First New Comers only to be defeated by the 2nd New Comers, the offspring of the 1st original newcomers. Does life imitate art? That is left to be determined here in Edinburg. A New Beginning shall come in the near future.

A Change Of Heart
After evaluating the situation. We here at Edinburg News feel that Strength and Experience do matter. I am a die hard democrat. I will vote democrat over a republican any day.
Eddie Saenz feels that a vote for a republican is not out of the question. That being said! I feel that Aaron Pena has the Experience and will continue to do what's right for his district. Even if he did vote Republican! I can see how a vote for a Republican Speaker means more goodies for our dist.
Let's continue to give our support and vote for a more experienced St. Rep. We ask that you join us in supporting and voting for Aaron Pena!

how long has joe ochoa been in power? why dont you count how many years he was on ECISD School board and Edinburg City Council. See how many clowns he recruited and got rich. My guess is the little man has been in power a long long time. The Palacios have lived in Edinburg all there lives and just now are getting family members into politics Terry, Rick, and Mary Alice haven't been in office longer than Ochoa! So before you go accusing people here, know your facts.
You wanna claim the Palacios-got rich off government contract deals. But did the city go and educate the whole family on becoming doctors, lawyers or business people? Getting rich isn't just about contracts, its about knowing what you're doing just ask anyone in business. Make whatever claims you want about anyone, but there are two sides to every argument. Ochoa, hector casas, and eddie saenz have all gotten rich all too quick. I wonder how? Is it the buddy system. these guys dont have a big family themselves so they point at the obvious big family for all the wrongdoings not realizing that they are doing the things they are accusing other people of doing. How long has the palacios been in business? how long has ochoa, casas, saenz been in business? Long time with plenty of politicians that took many posts in various offices, so were they all crooked? so what are you saying about all those politicians that have served?

Mr. Barrientos has no money to offer Eddie Saenz thats why he wasnt there. If you dont have a fat wallet, Eddie has no use for you. Eddie does not hang around the average Edinburg citizen, only runs around with the the rich.

What's your take on the Judicial Races, so far it looks as though only one is going to be contested, the new district court (suppose to focus on juvenile cases). So far there is no other "announced" contested judicial races and the incumbents look to be in for a re-election cruise.

reach: unfortunately Mr.Contreras is not from a big family or city, Mercedes is home of Congressman Hinojosa, but seriously doubt that endorsement or from Dist.Clerk Laura Hinojosa either.
Dispute: AGAIN IT IS ALLEGED that many women have opted not to pursue legal action with Mr.Contreras for an array of on the job relations, but have chosen to settle financially.
STRENGTHS: POLITICAL ALLY Judge Bobby Flores. 2nd time around for Mr.Contreras in seeking office and is a municipal judge in Mercedes.

Well again the DECADE OF THE WOMAN is very near. DOES THAT MEAN SANDRA IS GOING TO WIN HANDS DOWN? NO. DOES THAT MEAN SANDRA DOESNT HAVE TO WORK FOR IT? NO. Mr.Kino Flores is being considered to have gotten complacent in his role of Public Official, so much so that his name made the DISHONORABLE MENTION LIST among Texas Legislatures.
But Mr.Kino Flores is associated with some Palmview, Mission, Sulivan, La Joya and McAllen heavyweights some by blood relations others as friends or political allies. Nevertheless, Mr.Flores will in fact prove to be a FORCE to be reckoned with POLITICALLY.
In order to beat the CHAMP, you must knock out the champ to take his belt. That being said, the campaign race will be Mr.Flores' to lose, Sandra will have her hands full. If Sandra wants to compete with such political roots, she must hit the ground running, block walking, and getting the most valuable players in the area for endorsements.
REGARDLESS OF WHO WINS THIS RACE, COMPLACENCY IS LIKE A CANCER: IT SPREADS KILLING OFF THE PARTS OF THE BODY THAT ONCED WORKED WELL. AND EVERY POLITICIAN SHOULD AVOID IT AT ALL COSTS.

I don't know how true the accusations about Aaron Pena III or J.E.SAENZ are, but I do know that just about anyone can come on here and create just about anything. And All I have to say is, Those informed people usually stick to the issues, friends and family members stick to the candidate that is friend or family regardless of issues, and political foe,, well they always sway there vote to HIGHEST BIDDER.
Regardless of how we here at THE POLITICAL RING feel about a certain candidate personally, that candidate should be judged on merit, record, or how they serve the people. And thats what we intend to do. Both Candidates seem to be CLASS ACTS. Unfortunately there may be only one elected, so stay informed on all the issues and decide for yourself who is better to represent our District 40. And notice how the candidate should be evaluated individually, how many times has your boss come to your house and judged how lazy your kids are, how lousy your spouse treats you, or how lousy your family makes you look.
Not always a good rule of thumb to ATTACK CANDIDATES' FAMILY THAT HAVE NO PLACE IN THIS IN THIS RACE.

I was at Pepe Guerra's wedding in Mission on Friday and saw Saenz leave after midnight. It did not look good. Let me say that no one is above the law.
If it is true Eddie should be ashamed. Something like that is black or white, you can prove it. Well usually, the valley is awash in grey. We'll have to wait and see.

Actor Kiefer Sutherland was arrested early Tuesday on suspicion of misdemeanor drunk driving in West Los Angeles, while still on probation after a 2004 conviction for a similar offense, authorities said.

If the story on channel 4 is correct there is no question of special treatment, because he would have to have been transported to the county jail for booking regardless if the city judge or magistrate ordered a PR bond. The only way out would have been to dismiss the charges like in the case of Chuy Hinojosa. No dismissal means you have to take the trip to county jail no matter what. It use to be different as you could bail out from the city jail, but that has not been the way in Hidalgo County for several years.
I will wait for more news, because I don't want to believe that it happened that way.

Well the Monitor cleared it up. Saenz was not arrested he was "detained" and still has not been charged, other than a dismissal at the city judge or jp level, it is the only way to avoid the trip to County Jail for booking purposes.
What does it mean?, well we may never know, but we will hear about it ad nauseam until the campaign is over.
